To apply for a Travel ID, you will need to visit an MVD office or an authorized third-party provider and bring the following documents:

  • One document that proves your identity, such as a birth certificate or a passport.

  • One document that proves your Social Security number, such as a Social Security card or a W-2 form.

  • Two documents that prove your Arizona residency, such as a utility bill or a bank statement.

You can also use the online document guide to help you prepare your documents before you visit the office. You can also schedule an appointment online to save time.

Benefits of Having a Travel ID

A Travel ID is not only a valid driver license, but also a versatile identification card that can be used for various purposes. Some of the benefits of having a Travel ID are:

  • You can use it to board domestic flights without needing a passport or another form of ID.

  • You can use it to enter federal buildings and military bases that require identification.

  • You can use it to apply for federal benefits and services that require proof of identity and citizenship.

  • You can use it to register to vote and participate in elections.

  • You can use it to donate organs and tissues through the Organ Donor Program.

How to Protect Your Travel ID

Your Travel ID contains your personal information and photo, which makes it valuable and attractive to identity thieves and fraudsters. To protect your Travel ID and your identity, you should:

  • Keep your Travel ID in a safe place and do not share it with anyone.

  • Report any lost, stolen or damaged Travel ID to the MVD as soon as possible.

  • Monitor your credit reports and bank statements regularly for any suspicious activity.

  • Be wary of any phone calls, emails or texts that ask for your Travel ID or other personal information.
